The president of Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy, Walter Morales, stated that the contract with footballer Emiliano Endrizzi will be terminated following the incident on the plane, and that the club will not take responsibility for it.
"We are trying to save the name of Gimnasia, because it is not responsible for any of this. Let it be clear that the club has no responsibility whatsoever in this matter. We are going to safeguard the institution, which is the most important thing," the official said at a press conference.
The episode occurred at the San Salvador de Jujuy airport, when the team was about to travel to Buenos Aires on a Flybondi flight to play their match against Agropecuario. During boarding, Endrizzi's warning caused panic, leading to the intervention of authorities and ending with the player being subdued and taken away in handcuffs.
"The player," he affirmed.
When asked about a possible termination, Morales was categorical: "Totally, that is what we are evaluating." The official also emphasized the seriousness of the incident in the current context: "The context the world is in today does not admit any kind of these jokes." Along these lines, Morales stressed that the priority is to preserve the institutional image: "We are trying to save the name of Gimnasia, because it is not responsible for any of this."
The images went viral quickly. Morales distanced himself from what happened and pointed to the individual responsibility of the defender.
